In the early 1990s, development of the Mediapark began northeast of the city center of Cologne, on the site of the former freight depot Gereon. The Kölnturm (Cologne Tower) can be seen from a distance. It was completed in 2001 and is the tallest office building in Cologne: 148 meters without the antenna. As planned, the Media Park has attracted mostly businesses in the media sector, but beside the studios of 1LIVE and Radio Cologne, the multiplex cinema Cinedom and the offices of many companies, there are also a hotel, two private clinics and restaurants. The pond covers 20000 square meters and is spanned by a 120 meters long pedestrian bridge.
