Aachen, Christmas Fair on the Katschhof

Every year the christmas fair in Aachen attracts many visitors from near and far. It is not uncommon to hear English, Dutch, French and German back-to-back. Around the town hall and the cathedral, merchants have established their festively decorated shacks and offer all sorts of craft products, food and beverages. The spicy aroma of mulled wine is in the air. At the northern end of the Katschhof, in front of the town hall, a big gingerbread man figure shows what many visitors take home from Aachen: The richly spiced ginger biscuits called "Printen" are one of Aachen's specialties.
