Aachen, Kármán-Auditorium

The Kármán Auditorium is a complex of lecture auditoriums on the main campus of the RWTH Aachen. Besides auditoriums, it contains a cafeteria, seminar rooms and lounge areas. The name honors Theodore von Kármán. The Hungarian engineer headed the aerodynamics institute since 1913. At that time the university was called "Königlich Rheinisch-Westphälische Polytechnische Schule zu Aachen".

The light-colored building across the courtyard houses the institutes for economic research. The stairway leads to the Templergraben, where you can just see the main building of the RWTH behind the trees.
