Cologne, Kennedyufer

The right bank of the Rhine river from the Deutzer bridge to the Tanzbrunnen is called Kennedyufer (Kennedy bank). Right next to the Hohenzollern bridge, the view from the promenade is one of the most well known postcard motifs of Cologne. In front of the illuminated cathedral with it's world famous twin spires is the Museum Ludwig, which had created a controversy at first due to the clash of architectural styles. The Rheingarten (Rhine garden) with traditional taverns is situated to the left. This is the landing site for the excursion boats of the KD Köln-Düsseldorfer riverboating corporation. The tower of the Great St. Martin's church is illuminated behind the Rheingarten. Upstream the panorama is delimited by the Deutzer bridge. The Hyatt Regency hotel is situated on the right river bank. On the other side of the Hohenzollern bridge is the Cologne trade fair. The buildings are currently undergoing renovation behind the landmarked facades. The intense blue light, which shines through the framework of the Hohenzollern bridge and is reflected by the Rhine river, is the illumination of the musical dome.
