Düsseldorf, LVA office building

At the south end of the King's Avenue ("Königsallee") is the head office building of the German Pension Insurance Rhineland ("Deutsche Rentenversicherung Rheinland"). The building is also known as the LVA highrise. The abbreviation stands for "Landesversicherungsanstalt", the name of the German Pension Insurance until the organisational reform of the statutory pension insurance in 2005. The building was completed in 1978 and at a height of 120m it is a distinctive part of the skyline of Düsseldorf. At night bands of light accentuate the vertical lines of the dark glass facade.
