The old market on the Abteiberg ("Abbey Hill") is the upper end of the pedestrian zone Hindenburg street. Several alleys with restaurants and pubs spread out from here. The market square itself is also part of the night life in Mönchengladbach. A pub offers outdoor service and resists the mild winter of 2006 with windbreaks and gas heaters. To the right one can see the luminous green glas facade of the Comet Cine Center. A small Christmas market is held in front of the "Saint Mary's Ascension" Church. Another one is a couple hundred meters down the shopping street in front of the theater.
